The holiday season is quickly approaching, but this year is different than any other year is our history.  With the COVID-19 issues, each state has their own restrictions and how they “prefer” each household will comply.  These “rules” may be vastly different from how each household had conducted family gatherings in the past.

Between the election, civil unrest (present and potentially future) and other issues that has affected our daily routines, know that these times are truly historic and to take note that this too shall pass!

What is important is how we stay safe and sane during this period of time.  As for the Thanksgiving holiday, let us truly give thanks for all the people who are doing the best they can in these uncertain times to live day by day.

In a time when some say law enforcement funds should be reallocated to other places, know that the one defense that keeps us safe as a society and away from those who want to commit violent crimes against unsuspecting citizens are the men and women of law enforcement.  In your holiday travels, know it is them who are out there, away from their families, protecting others whom they have sworn an oath to protect and serve.  Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  If you see them in harms way, do what you can within your powers or limitations to enhance their safety. Those actions might be in the form of calling 9-1-1 to advise law enforcement emergency dispatch operators of the officer’s danger, or even getting physically involved should you have the requisite skill set.

We all need to stay strong and encourage each other to get to the other side of these strange times.  I can’t remember where I heard this, so I can’t give the proper credit where credit is due.  It was said, if you’re going through hell – keep going.  Lastly, there is hope and a light at the end of this tunnel and it’s not a train!
