Since March of 2020, there seems to have been one negative thing after another. From the first outbreak of Covid-19, the variants, the Social Justice issues, Mask and Vaccine Mandates, the increase in violent crime and now as of this writing, the issues between Russia and Ukraine. Each of these issues have taken a toll on our collective psyche.
I would suggest that you protect your mental health by resisting the urge to “doomsday scroll.” Try not to ingest the constant news of negative events. Whether you receive your news by television, social media, or any type of Internet news station, more often than not, news stations repeat the same information. The constant drum beat of these same events can become overwhelming. The negative effect can cause significant stress that can trigger your body to react in ways that are unhealthy.
I am not suggesting that you stick your head in a whole or hide in your closet. I am also not suggesting that you prepare yourself for Armageddon or the End of days.
What I am suggesting is that you take in the top story of a news station no more than twice a day. If there is anything that is earth shattering (and I truly mean earth shattering) I am sure your local Emergency Alert System will notify you.
Take the time to work on something positive. Keep your head in a positive direction and be there for your loved ones and friends. They may need a person to lean on and that person might just be you.
